What is the difference between Canine Wellness Massage and Canine Rehab Massage?
Canine Wellness Massage is a systematic approach to working with the soft tissues and energy fields of the body towards a desired physiological and psychological outcome. Often these desired outcomes include relaxation, improved body awareness and flexibility, and the promotion of overall health and wellness.
We also offer Canine Rehab Massage, which is a site-specific treatment with a precise goal in mind. Often useful after an injury or operation, Canine Rehab Massage addresses a particular complaint or issue and focuses on the management of inflammation, the minimizing of soft tissue adhesions and scarring, and the return of normal range of motion to the joints.

Do I need a referral from my veterinarian before scheduling a Rehab, Rehab Massage or Cold Laser Therapy appointment?
Before scheduling an assessment, you will need to obtain a referral from your veterinarian. After an assessment, a rehab plan will be created and sent to your veterinarian for approval. The rehab plan may include some or all of the rehab services offered at Canine Strong. As your dog progresses through their rehab plan, new modalities may be introduced to best further their progress and support their goals. We work closely with your veterinarian throughout this process to ensure the best care possible for your pet.
Underwater Treadmill (UWTM)
Do I need a referral from a veterinarian to use the Underwater Treadmill?
A referral from a veterinarian may be required before Underwater Treadmill sessions can begin. This will depend on your dog’s goals and physical state. Please contact us if you are interested in Underwater Treadmill sessions so that we can schedule an assessment and determine a plan that fits your dog’s needs.
How does an Underwater Treadmill differ from a pool?
The Underwater Treadmill is a more compact water containment system that allows the practitioner to raise the water level above the treadmill to the perfect height for each individual dog. The dogs feet remain on the treadmill at all times, allowing them to use the same muscles and muscle extension that they would during regular walking.
Will I have to lift my dog into the underwater treadmill?
No, our treadmill is equipped with a low entry door threshold that allows dogs of all sizes to step in easily.
Is the water in the underwater treadmill heated?
Yes, the water in the Underwater Treadmill will be heated to a comfortable temperature for the dog.
Is Underwater Treadmill safe for dogs with heart disease and/or pacemakers?
No, dogs with heart disease and/or pacemakers should not use the Underwater treadmill.
Is Underwater Treadmill safe for dogs with skin infections?
No, dogs with skin infections will not be permitted to use the underwater treadmill for safety reasons.
What if my dog poops in the Underwater Treadmill?
We know that accidents happen, but due to the time and cost associated with cleaning and disinfecting the treadmill and our water reserves after such an accident, we charge a fee of $200 for incidents of poop in the Underwater Treadmill.
