Underwater Treadmill
We are proud to offer Underwater Treadmill ('UWTM') services and access for dogs and their owners. Underwater Treadmill is often used as a compliment to veterinary care after an injury or surgery as it can improve range of motion in compromised joints. The buoyancy of the water allows for a safe weight bearing environment for injured joints or decreased strength. UWTM is also used for general conditioning in sporting and working dogs and for weight management in over or under weight dogs.
Please contact us if you think your dog may benefit from Underwater Treadmill. A referral from your veterinarian and/or assessment by our practitioners may be required before treatment can begin. We look forward to hearing from you! Read more about the benefits of UWTM below.

What to ExpectUnderwater Treadmill ('UWTM') is often recommended by a veterinarian after injury or surgery to aid in recovery of the affected muscles and joints. UWTM is also used for conditioning in sporting and working dogs as well as weight management efforts in over or under weight dogs. The duration and frequency of treatment will be determined by the goal (rehab or fitness) and the physical state and limitations of the dog. Generally, you will first come in with your dog for an assessment and discussion about goals so that a customized treatment plan can be created.
Underwater Treadmill is often used in conjunction with other rehab modalities such as Cold Laser Therapy, Stretching, Rehab Massage, and Strength and Conditioning. You can read more about our Rehab services here. For dogs with Fitness-related goals, we offer Strength and Conditioning Programs as well as Fitness programs that include use of the Underwater Treadmill. Underwater treadmill is not safe for use with dogs that have heart disease, pacemakers, or skin infections. Please contact us if you have any questions. |
So, What Is An Underwater Treadmill?
An Underwater Treadmill works by allowing a dog to walk while aided by the buoyancy of water. The water level is customizable so that dogs of all sizes can use the equipment safely at an appropriate water level for their size and condition. The water is heated to a comfortable temperature, ideal for sore muscles and joints. The low entry door threshold allows for easy access into the treadmill for dogs with mobility issues.
Underwater Treadmill is a compliment to veterinary care and is not meant to treat or diagnose. Referral from a veterinarian is required before treatment can begin. |
